Just got it fired up got 13.25 amps all over checked alternator and starter found loose wire on back of starter left old girl out side ticking over for last hour

Shouldn't we be looking for > 14.2V at 2,000 RPM with EVERYTHING Electric switched on at max draw?

Diesel only has set point of 13.8V as standard. You can upgrade to 14.5V by changing the gubbins on the top of the alternator.

Got a feeling the old petrols had a smaller alternator bit you can put the later one with higher amps on.

That's what I've getting is 13.8 on 2.5 td
