Hi All,
Hope everyone is well, including the cars......
Well I haven't been here for a while, good really....... But now the noise coming from under the car is getting worse and need it to drive to the S France in a couple of months.......
basically changed the clutch and gearbox last October. I changed the gear box as I thought it was whining but not sure it was. the whining has gotten steadily worse and taking the car to the UK last week and doing some motor way miles the noise was noticeable.
It sound like an underground train pulling away. It is consistent in all gears, less noise when pulling away hard and most noise when just cruising along. I have checked all the oils, diffs, gearbox and transfer box. On a level surface out of gear tried wobbling the ends of the prop shafts but couldn't feel any movement. There was rotational movement in one end but have forget which but it was a diff end of the prop shaft.
How do I go about trying to isolate the noise further? Any suggestions welcome, perhaps even dropping a match under the bonnet!!!! Not really I do like the old girl, she is a 95 vintage, manual diesel with 153K miles and the 30K she has done with me has been with a powerbox fitted (or whatever it is called).....
Thanks in advance and hope that makes snese and have used the right terms....
