I"ve tried looking for previous threads but can find nothing resembling my problem.
When turning on the Windscreen Heater blower to clear any condensation etc, if I turn the dial to a fast speed it makes one hell of a noise. Sounds like a stone shaking around in an empty tin can.
As the winter is not too far away I really need to get it sorted. Any ideas?
Cheers

Option 1 : open it up and remove stone.
Option 2 : Flip Freelander over and try and shake it free through the heater ducting.

There might not be anything wrong with it. It's not uncommon for the booster fan to vibrate on full speed. The balancing of the impeller is basic at best.
I balanced the booster fan impeller of my MG ZS myself because vibration at full speed.

Isn't it a remove the whole dash board job to get at the heater blower though? Mine is making annoying squeak occasionally, but at the moment I can't be bothered to dismantle all that is necessary to get to the damn thing. Jim

It should just be possible to remove the blower motor assembly from under the dash, but not tried in the Freelander. Most cars allow motor removal without a total strip down. The ZS takes 10 minutes to remove the blower motor, which is why I balanced mine correctly.

I think you are dead right. Looking at the Rave pics, the blower is accessible from the drivers side.

I think I must have been thinking about the heater matrix removal - which does look like fun.

Hopefully it will be straightforward to take out and give a clean to get rid of the irritating noise.

Hopefully the OP can sort their noise out too!

My memory is fuzzy on this, but iirc, next to the clutch pedal, if you have one, look to the left, you will see the bottom of the heater blower assembly.
You can access the motor by removing some screws on that side. It's a tight squeeze, better if you have an automatic (no clutch pedal:)). Be prepared to disjoint you arms.

Beat me to it!!
Yes the heater matrix requires a full dash disassemble. And a lot of plasters for your fingers afterwards:(
