Do the Teves ECUs control the Amigos on the dash directly? I know on my Wabco there are 4 wires coming from the ABS ECU that drive/power the lights directly. If the ECU had no power, the lights would not light.

I know the later dashes are more 'networked' - is it that the ABS ECU tells some other ECU which lights to power? If so, if that ECU gets no message from the ABS ECU maybe it lights them for that reason - and maybe its that ECU which needs the codes read to see if there's a message saying that there's no communication from the ABS.

I'll investigate that today. But yes, the later dash plays a key part in the comms system.

First thing I think I need to do is sort out the fuse board, I know from the non start originally, there is a problem with it,

according to the wiring diagram that I have F11 and F8 fuses should be live at all times and they are only live when the ignition is on, the drawing is the top line 30 and I am sure these should be live all the time the line below is 15 and I think that is with the ignition on. both these feeds go directly to the abs ecu. If I could I would post the wiring diagram, but I am not sure how to do it.

Looking at the wiring diagram for the 2002 Freelander (the latest I have) The ABS ECU takes power from Fuse 7 on the Passenger Compartment fuse box. This is switched through the ignition. It also takes power from Fusible Links 8 and 11 on the Engine Compartment fuse box (these are not 'normal' fuses) - I imagine these are the high power feeds used for the actual pump rather than signalling/logic feeds.

GG and Nodge are right, I think - a non-working speedo is unlikely to be an ABS sensor, unless several have failed at once.

To upload a wiring diagram, it's easiest to take a screenshot, save as JPG, and click 'upload a file' in the bottom right of the box you write posts in.

When you talk of fuses, tell us which fusebox you mean - engine or passenger compartment.

Hi I want to do some tests on the can lines as I have no communication with the abs..

1St of all does anyone have the OBD pin out drawing, I want to make sure the can lines are pin 6 and 14

and has anyone any experience with can line testing please

Just pluged the obd break out box, Live on 16 4 and 5 ground lights up, but the can lines do not light up, I think they are dead.

There isn't CAN at the OBD plug on a Freelander 1 - CAN is a local network between instrument pack, ABS, engine and gearbox

K Line bus is the only data bus on the OBD port.

Is it a TD4? If so, is the glow plug light illuminating?

You say the speedo isn't working. But what about the rev counter or engine temperature? All these are sent to the dash on the CAN BUS. So if those are working, the CAN is working between the engine and dash. This would then point to the ABS ECU as the problem.
You can test this by unplugging the brake reservoir level sensor. This would put the handbrake warning light on, even if the HB is off. The light is then controlled by the ABS ECU, via the CAN.

Hi Thanks for the help, I think the handbrake light is on now, I will have to check in the morning as the car is at work. Can i back probe the can wires to test the signal, then unplug the ABS as that is what I think is the problem . would the signal correct itself?.

"""""""""Fixed""""""""""""" Checked all the fuses 2 weeks ago and they where all good, What I did not check for is if there was a fuse there, Pin 32 on the ABS had no power, I go back to the fuse 11 and it is missing, Not sure how, Bit I put one in all the warning lights out, speedo working.

Great news.

Thanks again for all the help from this great Forum

It is in fuse link board, but a 40amo squarish see through the top one, next to the headlight one I think, I could send you a picture if I knew how
