no sound from radio:(

Hi

hope some body can help, i have a v reg discovery 2 with the alpine head unit /karman system cd changer etc with audio in the boot with controls on steering wheel and in the boot. i had a intermittent problem with the sound cutting in and out and now its gone all together. have tryed a new head unit, checked fuses, speakers work, cd changer has power and works,

it seems the fault is with the wiring. when i check for continuity along a wire ie from out the head unit to the the speaker on the same wire there isnt any, witch suggest a broken cabe, but surely not all of them can have a break in them, as non of them have.

is there another connection some where for the speakers ie the interface box ? im guessing there is a cross over box to give signal to the door tweeters, but not sure if there is or were its located ?


anybody had this before? or have a wiring diagram?

If you have a broken speaker wire that is shorting to earth, it will switch off the output chip inside the set to stop the set blowing.

Broken amp?

not sure about disco 2 but there is an amp located in the passenger footwell in the disco 1, if that goes you would have the same symptoms

Harmon has an amplifier.....Item numbered F142 on Rave.....Will try and find location for you

Yup top spec ICE in a D2 has an an addition amp so check the supply to that, I don't know where it's located either on a D2.
The Japanese spec D1 has has an amp behind the kick panel as mentioned.

The harmon amp is located under the lefthand front seat
