No indicators or hazards

The BCU is not involved in the rear windows operation and for the flashers it manages the indications in the dash on the same circuit so that one is not so suspect now...i'm affraid that the problem was caused by the fusebox from the beginning which is involved in all then they bodged it all over the place

Haha ok

So to be honest I'm a novice, think I'll take it to the garage

Give him the head up then that it might be something to do with that pin 7?

Sorry Millertime, but is this the same car about which I advised, in a very long post?
Basically make sure all electrical equipment works, air con works, there are no warning lights on the instrument panel, if it has air suspension, that it works like it should, test the Hi-Lo ranges, traction control, ABS and diff lock if you are lucky enough to be looking at a model so equipped.

This Is the 3 wires cut incase anyone knows if they're part of the problem?
You know, I've seen a post in recent days that involved wires that looked exactly the same. Unfortunately cannot remember what it was about, or the advice given, something to do with the two wires that looked exactly the same and ... sorry, i'll see if I can find it for you. And yes, if the garage plugs their machine in, it costs.

Found the thread, they were black and orange wires, not like yours and the plug was white, so not the same issue, sorry.
No problem

Please don't think I disregarded your advice, it was invaluable for me when I went to see it

Used that and the rust to get what I think (hope) is a great price of 1250

Will know by 1010am tomorrow!

Well, down at 10am tmrw to have it plugged in, see what the issue is...
I'm affraid that plugging in a tester for your indicator issues will be wasted time and money cos that part is not covered at all by diagnostics... you need a handy auto electrician who knows how to deal with a D2 electrics or at least he has an can understand the specific diagrams

Will it not help with the 3 amigos or rear windows?

Wow, rusty chassis, three amigos, electric windows, no hazards or indicators? NOTHING like the ad, was it? They should have paid you to take it away!
Still, three amigos ain't the end of the world and the other electrics look not too difficult for a decent auto electrician. I have fixed some of this stuff and I am really rubbish at electrics! But I do have a diagnostic tool specialised for Land Rover.

Just one other simple thing, without looking at wiring diagrams or RAVE, I cannot tell you where they are, but have you checked the earth(s) to the fusebox(es)? Dodgy earths can cause all sorts of electrical problems and other threads do indicate this. The one to the SLABS control unit is apparently prone to being loose or rusty. Bodgers tend to skip the logical slow and steady approach to solving a problem and just run parallel wiring to the original problem to solve it. But doing that can still cause problems. That key you were handed should have made you run a mile, as it just screams "bodgery" You really are a brave man!

To be fair, I am sure the electrics will be a simple fix and literally 7 of the other ones for sale when I checked on the mot history all mentioned chassis rust!

1250 was a good price

Haha brave or thick as mince... still to be proven but the engine at least feels superb and the paintwork has scrubbed up fantastically!

Will update later..

Well went down to a local place who plugged it in and tried the indicators from his laptop and still didn't work

He then turned the lights on but the laptop was saying that they were still off which made him think it's the bcu

Freely admitted I would be better taking it to a landrover place, so I did that and it's with them now.

99 plus vat just to diagnose it so I am hoping it really is something daft and doesn't cost a bomb!

At least they know the car inside out though

I'm expecting a call back this afternoon or tomorrow, fingers crossed

half the price of a Foxwell ... at least did yoy find out the ABS fault codes for that money?
An expensive and ignorant "specialist" as the D2's lights have nothing to do with the BCU
Haha no exactly and that shows that I am listening at least to what you guys are all telling me as I knew that from the advice you have kindly given me

To be fair he was just a standard wee garage guy and recommended I go to the landrover place instead

He also didn't charge me for the "reading" at least

It's with a proper landrover place now so they should know the car properly and whilst 120 quid just for the reading is a bugger, at least they will diagnose it all properly

If the first guy was unscrupulous he could have taken it in and spent hours chasing things and charging me an arm and a leg

Sorry, i misunderstood that you've already paid 99 quid for that failed diagnose:oops:.... unfortunately no LR spcialist is trained to deal with ugly botches made by some schmucks like i presume it was made on your's seing those cut wires
