Hi

Got an issue with my radio in my 97MY P38. It's been there since I have had the car but never got around to looking at the problem. Got a bit of time to sort it now whilst I am at home during lockdown!

Problem is I cannot get any radio reception on FM stations, MW is perfect but I have had enough of listening to radio 5 live and Talksport!

My car has the base spec low line system as I only have 6 speakers if that helps.

Any ideas what would case no reception on FM stations?

Thanks

My L322 is the opposite, FM fine but no MW :D
Not after a solution BTW cos it don't bother me.

I would say it's a faulty radio unit, as far as I know (at least in normal headunits) FM and MW use the same aerial. And MW is generally a stronger signal.

Thanks all for the advice, gives me a few pointers to look into now, I think I have a spare radio somewhere so I will start by plugging that in and then will go from there. I will update this thread if/when I manage to resolve the concern.

All I know for certain is its not window tints that is causing the issue...............as I don't have them.

Stuff the radio and stuff TV, Spotify and youtube/Netflix no bad news there peeps.
Maybe the arial wire has come out of the radio at the backo_O

if its a diesel, you gotta have something worth listening to ;)

Took the radio out and fitted my spare radio this morning which I found hidden in the loft! FM is now restored! Plugged the original radio back in and FM is distorted so something must have gone wrong internal to the radio.

Seem to recall some models had separate FM and MW aerials. Presumably check solder joints where the FM one goes in the back of the radio?

My P38 is a poverty base model so the aerial (os rear quarter window) is a joint FM/AM. There is no aerial on the ns...........but you are right some models with a high line system have a seperate FM aerial in the ns rear quarter window.

Fitting my spare radio seems to have done the trick for now so I don't want to mess with it in case the problem comes back.
