They used to be great for Defenders but l called them today for a price and they won't even quote for my 110 TD5 SW.

Bizarrely Adrian Flux were my cheapest quote, and they also do agreed value. But l'd go with NFU if they would cover me.

We were always with NFU on the 90, but a few years ago the renewal doubled in price to over £800. Other quotes were half that.

I have ten years NCB and am over 40 so not a high risk. They said it was because of the nine seats in the 110 SW.

I tried NFU this year at renewal time as I had heard many good things about them, but their quote was £450 and Privilege wanted £148 difference was a bit too much .

You hear good things as they NEVER role over. I know its a lot of money but privilege when you have a bump will just go "ahh its 50/50 lets settle" and then they will force settle for you unless you have a witness you will be screwed most of the time. So that's the risk you take. NFUM will stand by their client and use all those extra £300's to fight tooth and nail.

That's the kind of thing I heard and I agree most of my experience with insurance companies has made me wonder how they get away with it, , just wish they could find a way to stand behind you for an extra £100

I am with the NFU, I agree with the the comment ER1C made, the NFU are like terriers when they are fighting your claim!! You feel kind of quietly more confident, knowing they are acting on your behalf... the other thing to watch out for, is the settlement price, what the operative tells you to get the sale, is probably ALOT different when the time comes to claim your agreed vehicles value!, its great to say, its all in the small print, ask for it it to be printed on the insurance certificate in big PRINT, then see what they say..
Im fortunate to have just bought a new Defender 90, and I insured it with the NRU, their Comprehensive policy is, they will reimburse you in full for the first two years, should it be stolen/written off!!

Don't forget, with Nfu comes they're breakdown get you home service, saves you needing aa relay or such like, last( only) time I needed it car was on a transporter heading home within 1 1/2 hours, pretty good I thought.

and one often not known fact if you are with NFU you get a 2k discount on a new LR purchase.

A 50/50 settlement and 50/50 blame are different animals. Its one of those industry sayings that got out into the public and inferred a different meaning. 50/50 settlement is an agreement between Insurance Company A and Insurance Company B. One week A will owe B £100 and the next week B will owe A £150, they then use the agreement and B settles the account by paying £50 to A. This agreement does not apportion blame. Thankfully with the addition of Legal Expenses Insurance to (almost all) policies there is always someone willing to take up your fight.

Yes but what happens to no claims discount? If both parties claim then both loose no claims, and both insurance companies hit the client, If I was not to responsible I don't want to loose out.

Both parties can claim, non blame status is given to the one who has their excess paid by the other party. The 50/50 agreement only affects how the Insurance Companies settle each others accounts, as I said - it does not apportion blame.

I was looking at prospective quotes on a 90. NFU quoted nearly £5k but Flux quoted £1100. Mines due to my age I know but the difference is massive.

Like l said, they wouldn't even quote for my standard specification 2005 TD5 110 CSW.
"NFU cannot cover that vehicle" the nice lady said.
My Ferrari was easier to insure than my Defender 110 and the premium about the same.
