Hi All,
I'm new in here, but have been a 'reader' so far (since Feb '12) and got a lot of useful info from that. But now I have a problem with my P38 RR (1998, 4.0, V8 LPG conversion)which, I am told' 'is not uncommon'. Car has been running well but LPG filler was sticking so I took it to my local LPG service garage, and left it parked up outside until they opened. They sent 'the boy' out to open it up and bring it in; he succeeded only in immobilising the vehicle (that was a week ago now). I turned up at 5pm thinking; 'no problem, use the EKA and we'll be sorted'. Both the EKA and handbook were in the vehicle (as it always is when I go to the garage). However despite many attempts the EKA did not work as it should. The boss came out at 6.15pm and said 'it'll be a loose actuating rod in the door'; removed the door card but found the rod was not loose. He has since spoken to 'a LR specialist' who says it will be the 3-part immobiliser system in the drivers door not talking to the rest of the car. Symptoms are: car immobilised with 'enter keycode' on panel; red light on dash still blinking; drivers door only opens with key, remainder are locked; EKA does not work and lock feels oddly loose when trying EKA sequence. Batteries in fob are new-ish and not reported as low. Vehicle has been stationary for a week.
BTW I am in sunny Cornwall and am only a RR user; sadly, my abilities mechanical are limited to driver maintenance items (replace oil, plugs, bulbs, fuses etc).
Is the 'LR specialist' right? And what does he mean? Hopefully someone sensible has a solution...?
Many thanks.
Graham
