Newbie with illumination question

Hi All
I recently bought a discovery 1 after years of having Daihatsu Fourtraks.
I like it very much but would like some advice please.
Should the interior switches (windows, heater controls etc) light up when headlights are switched on?
Hope someone can help

On our disco you sometimes have to give the underside of the centre console a whack to get the instruments to illuminate.

It's a Landy, it adds character.

Yes even with just the side lights on.

In that case, does anyone know which fuse relates to switch illumination so I can start working out the problem please?

Yes but what model of disco are u talking about? it would help. On a 300 series D1 the dash lights feed is from the o/s side/tail light circuit.

Does your dash lightup? If yes then almost certainly the lamps have blown, quite common.

depends if its a 200tdi the window switches dont light up but the heater controls do

I think its a 300?
Its a 1998 2.5 TDI.
Slight correction to problem after checking, the window buttons light up but not the heater controls, rear window wash/wipe etc. The dash lights up though so it probably is the led's.
