newbie with a thought

Hi Guyz,
Newbie member here, excellent site by the way...

SO what's the general thought of the new Freelander 2 then so far guys.

The only thing that ia m aware or so i am told is it now has a Volvo engine instead of the 'in my opinion excellently made' BMW engine in the previous td4 series.

Look forward to reading this toipic..

already had 1 recall apparently.

Had one as a courtesy car last week.

A big improvment on the last model, But build quality is still a bit suspect

The volvo engine is a 3.2L straight six petrol (called the I6). Same engine as in the volvo 850, the diesel is a 2.2L 4 cylinder peugeot engine, both are good engines, the petrol is derived from volvo trucks and is a VERY compact engine for a straight six, very strange to look at as all the ancillaries are driven off the rear of the engine and there is no crank pulley on the front, when I went on the course for this car, they said that in 2009 (I think thats what year he said), they are going to supercharge the 3.2, should be interesting!

A much better car than the old freelander but I reckon there will be lots of electrical issues as there are with disco3 and RR sport.
