Thaught I would join up & say Hi. I am thinking of buying a new 2010 Model Freelander HSE manual in Rimini Red & Almond leather with some dealer fit accessories (Chrome mirrors, Chrome side tubes, Driving Lamp Pods). Is there anything I should need to know about this vehicle before I say yes? I havn't even test driven one yet lol :eek:

The main purpose of the vehicle is to use for my valeting business, not to replace my MG ZR-Express but to use in conjunction as I want to keep the MG very long term for dry day work & MG shows & the more a vehicle gets used the sooner it will wear out!!:(

I have had a Freelander before. I baught a brand new 1.8GS in Alverston Red back in March 2001 & I did have a few constant niggles with that right till the day I traded it in for a Rover 75Tourer Connoisseur SE. It was back & forth to the dealer not for mechanical issues but other bits & bobs.

Now you're slagging rovers aswell, what do you drive? a slitty.

The 1.8 k-series engines are ****e. The freelander2 have td4s which are much better BMW engines. The freelander2 is a big improvement on the freelander1 if you prefer the styling. There have been mention of issues with fuel pumps failing prematurely though.
 
Don't compare it with you previous Freelander. It has nothing in common, and isn't even made in the same factory.

The latest Freelander is NOT a BMW unit that was the TD4 in the Mk1. Apparently it has something to to with The French.
The Freelander Mk1 - 1.8 was very underpowered but then the car is heavy. I had the same engine in a 1.8 MG ZS & it was very ecconomical & pretty quick.

Doesn't seem to be much interest on here regarding Freelander's, they all bear the LandRover badge? Regarding an earlier post there is nothing wrong with Rover's etc.OK the headgaskets on the K4 models are a pain but other than that no worse than any other & until not too long ago Landrover & Rover Group were the same company lol.

Freelanders don't have low range, they don't need it.
The Freelander 2 has a TD4 (as distinct to Td4) which is a Ford Peugeot collaboration.
 
Go for it, you won't be disappointed & please try to overlook the jealousy you may encounter from certain quarters. We Freelanderers have learned to tolerate this & are able to carry ourselves with a certain degree of dignity, safe in the knowledge that we have superb, capable, comfortable, economical, reliable in diesel form vehicles.

Thanks for that. I can't understand why members of the same forum slate other models in the range just because it is the junior model. It's a bit like the MGB owners slating anything that suceeded it = childish! I for one am more of an enthusiast when it comes to cars & though I do not own an MGA.B,C or any other of the earlier models I have the same enthusiasm for them in the same way that if I buy a Freelander I won't discrace a Range rover or Range Rover Sport. The RR Sport is the baby as it is the newest model & one that I would prefer if I could affort one!
 
ere i dont suppose this "executive valeter/car wash boy" marks the return of the once infamous DK17 ?

I dont think its a junior model as such to be fair. Its been said that it should not even have a landrover badge on it, but its good to see your keen.
 
I didn't know that the new TD4 wasn' t a BMW engine, always learning on here.
As the Range Rover Sport is really a disco underneath, it can wear its landrover badge with pride.

Yep it could seem childish, but the **** taking banter is what makes this forum better than the other forums.
