:(hi all new to this site and range rovers
please help
will try to give as much info without going on to long,
I have got a 2000 4.0 range rover with lpg in a deal with a old merc I sold
came to me , not run for at least 8 mths with flat battery
put on new battery , yes , engine would not turn over or start ,
after looking on here worked out what to do , key sync etc , turned key and she ran , tried it 20 times or more over two days everything fine few fault messages etc , windows not set etc but always started , parked in my garage , following day turned over but would not start , engine light is on when trying , left it further day battery flat! got another battery wont start turning over but no spark. checked at coil and have power , checked at crank sensor and have power , and can get some power through crank sensor ,have removed blue wire from rf sensor as light was on dim near gear lever and battery has lasted three days so far but still wont start as no spark have plugged in snap on machine only thing it brought up was code 39 ews manipulation and power drain
thanks all
help:(

Aside from the fact that you should have said hello to all the chaps and chapettes of LZ in the intro section, that was a decent first post. I give it a 5 out of 10 possible points.

Welcome and good luck. Hopefully Data or wammers of the Saint see this. They da bomb when it comes to your flavor of rot box.

:welcome2:

My first thoughts are the BeCM and the Engine ECU have lost sync....

In the P38, the BeCM (Body Electrical Control Module) and the Engine ECU contain a security code, these codes must match for the car to start.

The P38 can lose its marbles esp. with low battery volts and the Security code gets scrambled, to un scramble, you'll need to plug it into diagnostics and re-sync the codes.

after reading lots on this and other sites I thought that too ,however I am now finding threads saying if engine light comes on while cranking its not a sync issue?? sorry im a old school mechanic and electrics do my head in
cheers chris.

Have you done the EKA code again?

drivers door has never accepted eka , its the right code I got it from landrover however every time I have tried it it has done nothing , I got car going by putting key in ignition pressing lock/unlock button then locking door by key, pressing unlock button on key then unlocking door, all doors unlocked ( sorry all doors and boot were locked when I got it) put key in and it started was fine till I put it in garage ( I have elec doors on garage code issue??)
cheers chris.

You may not have the latest rf reciever. It's behind the rear seat (drivers side) underneath the cover that holds the rear shelf, you may have an interferance from somewhere - weather station, or mobile mast etc. You could try to remove the aerial on the rf reciever, you will have to be close to it to activate the central locking with your plip. Do you have an owners manual - normally in the glove box. The EKA code entry is different from early models and you may need to try several times, try twice and then open and close the door to prevent a time out issue where you will have to wait 15 mins, you need a good battery on it.
The manual will also tell you how to reset windows and sunroof if you have one and the correct way to disconnevt the battery to prevent an alarmed state. You may also have a door lock actuator problem, if it is that you will need to replace it.

If you don't get key code lockout message on my 2000 I put the key in the ignition turn to position two and at the same time press the unlock and lock buttons a few times. the door unlocks and can start the car

You say it won't start, is it turning over? and any messages ?? Fuel ?

have unplugged blue wire on rf and now car battery is staying charged longer, key blip button still works however as you say I need to be closer,i know code and have tried it several times and does nothing , battery brand new and good , windows no problem I set them when it started first time , it turns over fine , and quickly no spark is my issue only code now is 39 ews manipulation??
cheers for everyones help so far
chris.

If its spinning over have you checked for a spark at the plugs?
Is there fuel petrol/gas in?
Begining to think you need diagnosstics EMS Engine Management System

Code 39 comes on first time cranking code. 148 comes at second igntion cycle code was retrieved with your snap on scanner with euro capability does the ecm needs reprogramming? yes, I think it does. Car will have no spark no injectors pulse - anyone with experience of Snap On codes??

car not sparking at plugs , and in fairness cannot smell fuel ( has qtr tank in) snap on machine can force fuel pump to work and you can hear it however cannot do much else , £4000 machine in my eyes useless ( not mine borrowed it ) pcm reprogramming ? sorry is that ne of those sync things
cheers chris.

Sync thing - yes. Quite straightforward.

sorry im new at all this , is it called a sync mate , anyone local to me , goole east Yorkshire with one I would gladly pay someone to get this car going as it ran perfect before
cheers chris
