hi,all. i'm new here(and to landrover ownership!lol) just bought a disco 300tdi M reg and the boot floor has a hole in it roughly 5 x 8 inch's at the rear of the boot.i knew about this when i bought it.thing is,should i have it patched or replace the whole thing?the rest of the floor is 95% good with just mild surface rust to a few area's.if it should be replaced, does anyone know any decent company's in or around york that have experience of this kind of wor?i don't think my welding skills stretch to doing the whole floor!

I did the whole floor on pretty much my own with minimal welding experience dude. The hard part is getting the old one out in my opinion.

What i did was drill out the spot welds, take floor out. Drill holes in the new floor and pool weld it to the cross members, replicating the spot welds that are there as standard.

IF the rest of the floor is good. then cut out all the bad metal and patch over it. Dont forget to zinc 182 it after or something equally as protecting

You missed the standard greeting BP, no urine extracted, oh well theres time and will be opportunities in the future.
Welcome to this mad house and don't take it personal

Few choices,

DIY I have a MIG that would cope with a new floor, you buy new floor panel and you can borrow me welder, I'll give you a hand

Couple of garages near me (Huntington) that could do that, if your not confident

PM me a tele number and we can talk

hi m8 if your gonna do the floor and replace it make sure you have a good look at the rigid crossmembers that run along the floor, these are usally rotten about £25.00 each.but if your gonna do it id replace the floor.mine was done last month and waxoyled with black wax and it looks the dogs:5bcheers2:

Hi bigpit I know of a garage in Selby (not too far) he does anything landy and price is good he did my clutch on my 200tdi for £150 less than anybody else round here  let me know if you want his number

Hi Bigpit and welcome........Have a go at it yourself, the boot floor is only spotwelded in,drill out the spot welds and it just lifts out.If you offer a few beer tokens im sure someone will give you a hand with it.

cheers for all the advice/offers of help!! i've decided that i am going to replace the whole floor after all.i want it to be right as it's going to be a family bus aswell as my toy...:biggrin1: i intend to remove the old one this wk and clean/protect the chassis while it's exposed.after that i may well take up the offers of help/advice with the welding!!

glad to hear you are going to have a go at it yourself.....All you have to remember is...when owning a Disco, the only tools you need are a welder and a very big hammer lol
