Hi I have troubles with my music replaced the amp once before as the radio went off after 30 secs, new problem is we had to jump start it and the sat nav disappeared and on our last part of the journey the screen started scrolling with the menu minus sat nav and when we stopped the brake lights stayed on and we had to disconnect the battery then the next morning reconnected battery and brake lights all fine and screen slowly disappeared and now the radio turns off after 2 mins, I know they suffer with water ingress and I am just going to replace the tailgate rubber as I can see this needs doing but no puddles in there, just wondered if any one could shed any light on the screen backlight but no thats it and sat nav wont work but I dont worry about that bit and the sound going off after 2 mins

OH dear OH dear ...A damsel in distress ! water ingress can be fixed by changing your Lady Tennors . Tailgate rubber is your old mans responsibility :rolleyes::D:D:D:D:D
 
Thank you for replying I'm just not sure why I have a blank screen and sound for 2 mins when it stops and I take the connection off and put back on the bm54 it goes again for 2 mins but still no screen
 
Why not try leaving everything (radio/satnav) in the on position and drive around for a few miles and see if anything occurs whilst you are driving?
it maybe an intermittent fault which could reveal its origins while you are taking time to sit with it, cos it sounds a bit like a ghost in the machine just see if anything flashes on & off some kind of short circuit could manifest itself.

I'm no Range Rover expert however it looks to me like in all probability there is a wiring fault I presume the satnav and radio share the same circuit some event seems to have triggered this behaveour possibly to do with when you jump started it, you need to do some exploration ie get the radio and satnav out look for clues maybe when you jumped it there could have been a power surge that may have influenced your problem.
Did you have the jump leads the correct way round?

that's a fair indication! the damage sounds like it is already done - there is a company near Manchester that specialises in repairing these units, the bad news is I will have to look it up again for you, the good news is that I will post the details to you and at no time will you have to entre Preston!
 
Clean it up, is it eflorescence like white powder salty stuff? it may have cracked or loose soldering if there are no hard soldered wires
you can remove it from the main body, if there are any cracks etc, it is possible to repair it by placing it on a heat proof tray and put it in a pre-heated oven
at arond 180 to 200 degrees for around 4 minutes, this will heat up the board and allow the solder to melt just enough to reconnect without damaging it
I have done this with other mother boards and the like obviously not for the faint hearted but when your faced with a dead board you don't really have anything to lose but if or when it works it will only cost you the price of the electric/gas.:)

In my humble opinion, that is definitely a last resort but I like your style.

Congrat's for that, so it' just a process of illimination for finding the next fault it sounds like your close to finding it, and when you do you will probably be able to put your feet up for a moment and feel proud that you have beaten the Gremlins, but not for long.
