Hi, I'm in the process of aquiring my first Landy. Just waiting for the garage to do the belt changes and MOT.
It's a 1995 110 CSW with a 300 engine. It's had nothing done except a door change with the addition of electric windows (fancy, huh!). Is there anything i should be considering as a 'must have' accessory (apart from a bigger bank balance)??
I've been a guest on this site for ages whilst dreaming of becoming an owner and have been interested to read about heated screens and upgraded headlights. Any of these a need or are they just nice to have?

Welcome to the loonyzone. Being Kernish you should adapt to the madness easily :)
Hope you do OK with the garage, I hear mixed reports. although I don't use garages much myself.
I take it you are in North Cornwall, not on the other side of the bay here?

East Cornwall between Callington and LIskeard.

Know that area a little, some of my relis lived in Pelynt and loads up on the moor, I live near Hayle now. Great choice of vehicle, actually quite a sophisticated model, try a Perkins engine 109 wit extra HD springs if you want a really agricultural drive :D
With the best will in the world a garage cant do a great job on an old landy, they cant charge for the time needed for the continuous resto work that is needed as part of every job. Remember, Rust never sleeps! :eek:
Reminds me, gota go refit my air cleaner that ive painted up over the weekend :cool: Enjoy ya motor, mate, speak later.

to LZ fellow pasty muncher , i take it St Ive is the posh end ...:D

Oi! turbotractor , we'll soon have enough for a laning trip of our own , although with three sides water , snorkels could be mandatory ...:D
Plenty of takers for laning. Shame the lanes aint a bit better, maybe we should do a trip to the Peaks :D And I don't mean the Cornish Alps neever:rolleyes:
 
Ive driven most in Cornwall and Dvon on my own with no difficulty! Most lanes right down here are now surfaced, and built up with bungalows. Look for BOATS on the LE&IOS OS maps. only a few through roads more than a few hundred yards, none of them would need 4wd. As I have posted before, walk it first if in doubt. Devon is slightly better, still few you would get stuck on.
Be very wary of china clay, it rots ya chassis terrible!

i'm only kidding about the china clay ....that would mean going to s' nozzle and i could lose my wheels altogether:eek: Gonna look on the devon 4x4 website and see if joining up with them instead would help build me some experience..:)
 
I am. I have done since i moved here, with my other cars. Small family busniness, they are what they are. Good customer service goes a long way in my book!

A good customer service means they will return your call after you have called about parts. Three different times they never got back to me about prices, so I do not use them any more. They are expensive too.
Do you know the guy down the lanes between you n Menheniot called Simon, who does up Land rovers..? Can't remember his surname, but I would like to know what he is like

Have you driven the lanes nr Duloe TM, where the ford across the West Looe river is..? I was wondering if that one is ok to do on your own.

I've not heard about Simon but i'll ask around. There is another guy in Tavistock, bit of a hidden garage that some disco owners are raving about. Might have a sniffa around there too.
 
Ey oop from a St Cleer ite.

Tamar 4x4 are OK in my book.
Trevecca LR are also good, but he can be a funny bugger and everything is fookin Britpart.


I might be persuaded to organise a day's laning around SE Kernow in the summer. There's a few good lanes.
Need to get the 90 through the MOT first.
