newbie here

Hi all,just joined landyzone,found you by searching for info about a discovery i am now trying to buy and loved the forum,lots of tips and help.
At the moment i have a frontera swb sport s,its been really good capable motor,but have had my eye on a disco 300 tdi thats now come up for sale and i have first dibs,so just got to agree on a price now,
97 p peg 2.5tdi,67k,mot & tax till may 2012,5 door,
leaky rocker cover gasket
corrode rear disc
rust on top of one the doors
rear door seized
sunroofs both leak and head lining kaput
inner front arches rusty where self tapping screws are at back of arches
full service history and only 2 owners fron new

any idea of price,owner has suggested £2500 and i am thinking more like £1500-1700.

Stick the Fronty up ya arse!! and tell the seller he's a comedian I just bought a 97 disco 197k miles 1 owner no sunroofs. but sills rear body crossmember and footwell were rotten. I paid £795. and that was from a 2nd hand car dealer.


You'll find that yours is prob rotten in a fair few places as well. Disco's are great at having hidden rot. Espeshially as they seem to rot from the inside out.

:welcome2: Disco ownership is a lot less painful on the pocket if you can weld.....inner wheel arches can be a pain if only to get all the wires out the way before welding. Sunroofs always leak but there's a cure and some 'how to's....' here if you search.
Mileage is quite low but cant really put a price on anything unseen and the bottom line is its worth what anyone is prepared to pay.

Good luck though........the 300's are a good strong motor though they do have a tad more electrickery to go wrong than the 200's but well rated here by those that know

Thanks for suggestion,but it think i will sell it as it will be less pain
Am going to have another look round the disco and take it to the local landy specialists to have a once over for me.

places to look are sills inner and outer, boot floor, rear body crossmember and body mounts, footwells B posts, front inner wheel arches and rear wheel arches (if it's a 5 door)
