Hey guys, I hope you can help me. A dear friend/neighbour recently passed away leaving his pride and joy behind. It’s a Landrover 110 Defender Safari, registered in the Uk in 1983 but made in Greece around 1980 (we think!?) It’s a fantastic machine and we would love it to go to a new home, and hopefully not rip it apart for parts. I attach some pics. It was running a few months ago but now the starter motor won’t turn over so selling as a non runner.[GALLERY=][/GALLERY] Enquiries welcome.
Thank you for reading,
Jessie x

Point taken. Again I apologise. Our friend John was a Landrover obsessive and I just wanted to see what like minded people thought. I don’t want to chuck it on eBay and get ripped off that seemed to be not respecting John. Im totally happy to take this post down and just advertise locally and see what happens. Let me know. Thanks for your help x

Why don't you keep it?

I don’t drive and the family are up North and asked for my help to find it a new home. As I said it needs some work on it so it’s not a project I want to take on.
Do you advise I take the post down? I didn’t come here to cause trouble. x

You can't delete a post, only forum admins can do that.
If you post another 46 times then you'll have the ability to advertise it in the For Sale section ;)

Ok thank you for your help. I will go look for somewhere else suitable to find a new home.
Someone didn’t read the T&C’s - sorry x

You can't delete the post, but you can edit it down to just a full stop, or even just a friendly intro.

As an aside, your post is inaccurate as regards the vehicle details. If it was built in 1980, it isn't a Defender, or a 110.It might have been built in, or shortly after,1983, in which case it is a One Ten.
If you want to, you can post 50 times, and then put it in for sale, but you need to research what it actually is, and post a proper advert, with pictures and what history you know of the vehicle.
If you don't want to post 50 times on the forum, same on ebay, autotrader, or LRO magazine.
Best of luck.

Thank you so much for your help. That info is very helpful, we don’t have many details on the vehicle. His V5 doesn’t have any model details - could this be something to do with it being a left hand drive import? It’s history is very unclear in Greece. Thanks again

It was probably sold in Greece, as a LHD.
As far as I know, they weren't built in Greece, although I could be wrong, they have been built in a lot of other countries.
From the pictures, it is a Land Rover One Ten, made by British Leyland, before Defenders came in.
If I am right about that, It will have either a 2.5 petrol engine, or a 2.25 or 2.5 four cylinder diesel. There were also a very few fitted with V8 petrol engines.
I can only suggest getting someone who knows about them to physically inspect the vehicle, or post underbonnet pics on here.

Your help is invaluable! I really appreciate your time. I should’ve attached a pic of the engine earlier. I have done so now. I also attach an info sheet which was the only thing he had with all of his vehicle documents. It’s not the same vehicle at all, and I was aware that the vehicle is a bit of a history project.
I will have to try and find someone to come look at it. Thanks again.

The plot thickens. That isn't the engine that vehicle should have, or the one on the info sheet.
Exercise extreme caution, would be my advice, these vehicles are notorious for being built up with stolen parts! ;)

And it wouldn't be a prototype if it was built in Greece either...

thats a TDi engine, and i think someone is spinning you a yarn about it being a prototype, it looks like a bitsa to me. It also definitely isnt the vehicle in the 'info sheet' that is a redding herring imo.

does it have coil spring or leaf springs underneath it?

Thank you for your advice. It’s becoming more of a mystery.
I agree about the vehicle on the sheet - it’s no way near the same.
I’ll find about the springs tomorrow. Thank you
