Hi all, new boy in town.
I'm looking out for a Disco 1 or 2 for some winter fun.

300tdi or TD5.

any advice on what's the usual guff to look out for when buying, what to avoid etc.

I'm from the world of American cars so I'm used to big thirsty V8 lumps of iron. All this smokey diesel stuff is alien to me! (although I did used to have a Landy 90 diesel which smoked like the flying scotsman!)

Is there a classifieds section here? Didn't see one first look but I may be missing something in my excitement! Cheers,

ps - I'm going to look at a 97 Disco 2.5tdi 7 seater, 98K, new engine with 22k on it now. Says its an ES but not got leather? He's asking £2750, tax run out. What's a fair deal?

no,sorry, I just thought you chaps would know a ball park for each model/year etc. With such vastly varied "guide" prices on tinternet, its hard to know where to start haggling at???? :)
 
FYI I saw the Disco last night, VERY solid all round, new engine fitted by local Landy dealer (£3k?) 22k miles ago. Lots of money spent, oil/filters every 12 months, new alternator etc etc etc. I think it's worth a little extra for the condition it's in and the way it's been loved and spent on! Making him an offer today. :)

ps - anyone know if a Disco 2 bullbar will fit a 1 without butchering or fabricating! (are the blooming bolt holes in the same place?), theres a fella wanting rid of a D2 bar cheapo

I am now the owner of a 97 Disco 300TDi, engine replaced a mere 22k ago. Drives beautifully, pretty solid (for a Landy!).

Gave it a thorough clean on Saturday, and then took it out and got it cacked in mud! Yeehaw!
:)
