Hi...
After being suitably chastised by West Slope Rover for failing to follow proper etiquette I am here to beg your humble forgiveness, I did actually think I had introduced myself some time ago, I mean I've only been a member since 2011...!?!???!!!!!
Names Pete had loads of Landies over the years, always swear I'll never buy another but always end up back with one....
Got offered a very cheap L322 Vogue back in the spring, its a 2002 4.4 M62 BMW V8 with LPG, it was cheap enough to use as a toy, certainly much cheaper than a 90... done a few bits on it... full underbody protection courtesy of a set of G4 10mm alu skids, took it for an outing in South Wales, Strata Florida, Happy Valley etc and ended up drowning it in a river, water 3" up the windscreen in a truck with no snorkel is a bit of a crap idea but it did give the inside a good clean... the good old truck did get us 220miles home after dryng the airbox out and after a complete interior strip, clean and dryout the only casualty was the radio.... the BECM was totally underwater but works great!!!!
So a snorkel was next, they don't do one for the L322 as there is very limited room behind the front wings, being a monocoque it has two inner wings and an outer, anyway heavily modified a Disco 4 one and it now likes swimming... fitted an Android head unit designed for the X5 by those clever chinese folk and I have noise back inside...
Got some HSE 18" alloys and a set of 275/65/18 Grabber A/T2's and they just fit, 32's a lot better than the original 29's...
Junked viscous fan and fitted twin Jag fans...
Next are tree sliders and bumpers but I broke my back in 1990 and have since worn out both hips so I'm waiting for new ones and can't get up and down too easy to knock some up...
A few pics...
32's and the suspension raised, got 17" clearance under the sills...
New head unit
Junk this lot
And this head unit does it all + a lot more
Snorkel
Front and Engine, tranny box and fuel tank guards...
It's a bit of a learning curve as not too many folk are off roading these yet, do have to say it is darn good when the going gets tough...
Cheers
