NEW TO THE SCENE QUESTIONS - 1991 defender county

hey, just getting a 1991 defender county, and was wondering what people know about putting a snorkel on, as from what i can gather there doesn't seem to be a vent thing where i can put one. would i have to cut it out at all?
and anyone know anything about 1991 Tdi models i should look for?

okay
probably a 200tdi - good strong engine and reliable . (but not as good as a 300tdi !!) he he
lt77 gearbox again strong and reliable . ( almost as good as a r380 )
probably been abused so service these well aswell as diffs and tranny box

check fer rust in the bulkhead rear x memeber and under the wheel spats . ]

take a screw driver and hammer to it and see if you can make any holes in the chassis . try hard.

oh an duno bout snorkel is there no vent on passenger side fron wing

cheers, yeh ill get the pictures up like in nxt 5 minutes. its a friends and hasnt really been abused at all.

you wont have to do any cutting, there's a big black air intake on the vertical face of the left hand wing just forward of the bulkhead

200tdi snorkel goes on the Passenger side wing like this. there is already a vent in place. you just unscrew it and fit the snorkel to the hole.

The bulkhead is the front panel under the windscreen that houses the airvent flaps and the door hinges bolt to. They rust round the screen hinges and at the bottoms where they meet the sills.

Rear X member is rear crossmember the chassis rail at the back of the landy the the body bolts to, and towbar hitch. these rot as well usually on the ends and where the chassis legs are welded to the crossmember.

Not sure what he meant about under the wheelspats as too me a wheel spat is the wheel arch extension and under that's aluminium.

cheers lads, will have to get my mate who owes me a few favours to have a go at it, mechanic by trade so handy enough. yeh its really nice not much done like the tyre on the front, may put another, mainly for looks, dont judge me on that, when i get a job and can afford things, the offroading adventres will begin!! just finished first year agriculture at college,
