Hahaha. Thanks Shimsteriom. I will get hold of Hippo. As Thor is American, I understand that he is handicapped, so I will have to start using smaller words for himWhen you've finished being hassled by the 'merkin, pop over to the Freelanderer section of the forum, and someone called Hippo will ease you in.

There was a company selling rear wheel carriers for the FL2 some time ago. Not a popular mod. I have seen one at a LR show. It's the one with the tent ont roof he's trying to sell. It has to be a swing away type. If fitted to the boot door it makes it too heavy to open the boot door upwards.
Fitting the wheel ont rear of the FL2 will make it look orrible. The wheel is less likely to be nicked where it is, locked away int boot floor. Think yerself lucky it's locked away. Ont bigger LR's it's underneath and gets robbed or attacked by muck. Also a wheel ont rear will hinder rear view when driving.
The FL1 had it's spare wheel ont rear door but that opened sideways. They put it there because of internal space. Also it took on the heritidge look of the ole tratters with rear mount wheel. Looks a bit like it's going on an adventure with a ruck sack ont back.
Sorry I can't remember. I think he said he fitted it so he had two spare wheels for trekking. Look up the exhibitors for the stineleigh or show. Tis where I seen it.Hi Hippo, thanks for the welcome and info.
Would you happen to know the name of the manufacturer who built the spare wheel carrier? I know it will not look great, but I need the internal storage space I will gain.

Int general the Freelander 2 is a good vehicle. Look after it and it will work well. As always... blue ones is betterer. Thanks Hippo, I will give that a try. Btw, just found your YouTube video channel after following your links. Very nice stuff, especially the ability of the FL1 offroad. No, it is probably not going to drive in the most inhospitable environment known to man, but can handle pretty much most situations thrown at it. You have made me feel far more happier with my decision to purchase the FL2
Well, that's a bit of luck....mine is blueInt general the Freelander 2 is a good vehicle. Look after it and it will work well. As always... blue ones is betterer.
