iv just bought a 1973 series 3 safari the engine looks original iv got the crankin handle and everythin but the log book lists the engine as 2625 cc diesel but everyone ive talked to said that they didnt make one only 2.25cc how do i find out for sure wat engine is fited also how do i find out when the car was made im hoping before jan 1973 but dont realy matter

thanks im guesin its goin to be a 2.5 then its only 4 cylinder the dieselpumt stands up and the exaust manifold got the firing order onit dont no if this helps but its wat ive noticed sofar also its my first landrover i bought it out of a scrap yard they were gona strip it for the ally i looked round it the chasie looks solid so does the bulk head .the engine runs nice but im expecting somethin major i havent noticed the only thing rong is the interior and a bit of tidying up and for 300 pound i thought it was a shame to let them kill it .is ther eney advice on what i should look for in the way of problems as i said its my first landrover and its a all new ballgame to what im used to?

the 2.5 diesel wasnt introduced until 1984.
