There is no better feeling than spending three days ripping out a rusty old leaking fuel tank and fitting a nice shiny new one to find it starts first time! Happy days
I was warned it would be a filthy, pig of a job. The worst part was trying to get the 3 bolts off the front bracket, which were rusted to f**k and a real git to remove. But a combination of nut splitter, angle grinder, a 4lb club hammer and crowbar eventually did the job and the old tank just dropped out! Fitting the new one was a little tricky though as I had to attach the 2 rear bolts first then raise the front and fit the new bracket. The 3 replacement bolts were just as much a pain to get to as the old ones, but having smallish hands o) helped!
All in all, chuffed to bits that it's all done and no more diesel leaking on the driveway
Now only got to do the cambelt, wheel bearing, fanbelt, replace the door locks, fix the hole in the driver's floor, replace the door seals and hinge bolts, windscreen seal, ....................
The joys of owning Land Rovers
