Hi All,

My LR has just gone for an MOT and needs a few bits doing but the MOT centre has also said that the rear propshaft is really dangerous and needs replacing.

Is this an expensive job? Can I get 2nd hand bits?

I have no idea. Might just sell it if it is a lot of investment.

Thanks for any help.

Piece of **** to replace it and its probably easier and less hassle just buying a new one. Don't buy a britpart prop though! I'm talking from experience lol

Last time I bought a complete propshaft it was around £55 for a brand new Bailey Morris one. If you can undo nuts you can change it yourself. So it shouldn't break the bank.

I just stuck a new one on my series 3 a month ago, think it was around £65 from lrseries. I tried changing a UJ on the original one but ballsed it up so had to get a whole new shaft.

Don't know what defenders are like but on a series it's an easy job if you have the right shape of socket to get to the bolts.

Like wise I am in west Sussex, burgess hill. I will fit it for you if you want either at mine or yours. All it would cost you is a cup of tea and a biscuit. Not a long job.

You get the part, best thing to do if your not sure is ring up paddocks or someone with your reg and vin and they will sort you out.

When do you need it doing?
