Replaced the radiator today and it wasnt as bad a job as I thought, took just over 2 hours (with a few tea breaks) and the result?

Gets to the halfway mark and stays there! Just taken her for a good run to my mums in Hagley and didn't miss a beat, also I found that the cruise control works :)

I've also changed the air filter and both pollen filters. The air one wasnt bad at all but the pollen filters were disgusting! Black, full of leaves and crap. Cleaned it all out and now have a decent amount of air coming into the cabin.

All in all I'd say it was a very productive day!

and I'm wondering to myself why you wasted the energy typing that? Just because you don't find it useful doesn't mean someone else won't.
Every forum I'm on you always get the village idiot, looks like that position is taken on here.

Informing the forum you've done something a million others before you have done and that there's lots of threads on would fit better in the ongoing thread:

And yes I like to take the mick...y:cool:

Interesting about cruise control... Was it broken before hand? Or just never tried it?

well I pressed the master button on the dash and nothing happened so assumed it didn't work. Did a bit more reading and found that you had to press the left hand button to engage it. To my utter joy it worked :D

Ahh yes I see your point, but I'm very special, it's the first radiator I've ever changed so I thought that required a new thread:D

Just make sure you've toped up with anti freeze cos you'll kick yourself if it freezes in the cold spell that's forcast
haha, yes I did check it was anti freeze but thanks for saying,

How long did it take you to get the Viscous fan off?...
Getting the fan off was easy, it was disconnecting everything around the shroud to make enough room for it to come out that took the time. I'd say from undoing the first nut to actually undoing and removing the fan was no more than 10 mins.

Did you need to jack up the car to remove it?

Nope, left the car in normal height mode and as wammers said, put a few axel stands underneath just in case. There's plenty of room underneath to get at the bolts (I would suggest pre soaking in penetrant spray for around 30mins before hand, mine were a nightmare to get off) then it's just a case of wriggling it out.

I got my old rad out (and the new one in) by just removing the fan couling and leaving the viscous fan in situ.

I thought about that but by the time you've manouvered it around, it would have been easier and quicker to undo the fan, plus sods law being as it is I'd have broken it somehow :D
