HAve a 2000 dhse auto.

Had issues with funny temperatures when running under load.

HAve now got a landrover thermostat as i didnt trust the old one and bought a new radiator as the old one was only hot at the very top.

New one turned up yesterday and first thing i did was turn it upside down and did the marble test. Which rolled all the way across the rad.

So, am i having bad luck with radiators or am i missing something here...

In order to get the radiator returned, is there a well accepted test that i can do as the radiator company is claiming it cant be there radiator. An obviously want it returned and tested potentially at my cost..

You have done it with the marble. If the rad supplied for your car does not have a baffle to force flow down one side and up the other it is not fit for purpose. Simple as that.

Ebay seller..

First one was from a northern radiator company..

Getting fed up with the big red paper weight now.... Its only afew more issues away from an ebay advert itself...

It's hardly the cars fault you keep buying cheap parts that are no good is it? Bit like buying a pair of size nine shoes because they are half the price of a pair of tens that would fit you. Then complaining because they are tight.:D:D

:hysterically_laughi:hysterically_laughi why not just take your old radiator to a radiator shop and have it cleaned and pressure tested?

You do have radiator shops in the UK don't you.

Yeah we do but they are getting difficult to find. Used to be four or five around here now i think there is one.

If people used them they would save money, but no I'll buy ebay then bitch when it doesn't work.

Easy tiger....

My first rad was flow tested and showed to be buggered, as it doesnt have a baffle.. THe new one, is well brand new, so a pressure test and clean will show naff all... An as it doesnt have a baffle it also will be a moot point taking it into my local rad shop.. On calling them, they pointed out that most modern radiators are now basically not worth repairing. As the replacement costs are less than the cost to test and fix the parts. That and the crap materials that modern radiators are made from...

Bottom fell out of rad repair with the introduction of none serviceable, throw away plastic top and bottom tanks and alloy matrix rads. Only work for a few specialists who still do proper rad repairs. The days of service exchange rads were they would sweat a new matrix to the cleaned up tanks went years ago in the most part.

So did you have the wrong rad in from the get go?

Crap material??????

when they tell you not worth repairing it means 2 things either they do not know how or don't have the right equipment. Our radiators must be different than yours then, Have never seen one that could not be repaired, unless smashed to fook in a accident.

West slope had 1 in his p38 was leaking and new was like $400, I told him to go to rad shop and fixed for about $120. most repairs can be done for less than 1/2 of new here, closer to 1/3 really

My local rad company, intimated, that they could produce a proper radiator for the RAnge rover. But, it would be in the area of 3-400 per unit.
