Hi all,

Recently become the owner of an old Discovery 1, 1995 model, 300tdi i think?

Keen to start modifying, but wondering where to start? Cheapest options first/best value!

Theres also an oil leak I need to investigate, think its just coming from around the filter. And also a severe lack of power? Gets very sooty when accelerating, not sure what that could be?

Will try and put some pictures in the next post too.

Where to start?

Brakes. Engine. Body!

Have a read of my thread (in my signature) to see how I changed this.....

auf_wiedersehen_pet - spent a good couple of hours going through your thread last night! Amazing work! Definitely got a few more ideas of things I'd like to do now ;) Whether the bank agrees is another question haha!

pauldw - yeah I can see that becoming a problem for me too!

Egr stuck open do a google search. Theyare all slow as sh1t though :D

Best mod is to remove rust and give it a service. If its like most then it needs a bit of boring tlc and parts renewal before you bolt on snorkels and light bars. Loads on here about looking for rust and servicing. Good luck

ronsealdeath - thanks, i'll check that out when i get a chance. Haha yeah that's true, I'm sure it shouldn't be quite this sluggish though! Mmm good point, better get the boring bits done first. I know need to replace the front inner arches for definite - when i was jetwashing out the engine bay, parts kinda fell off haha!

discomark10 - okay thanks, how would I check that? Aha yeah i do ;) the best bit is switching between the two, the difference in height is quite an adjustment to make!

Speaking of height, can anyone tell if mine is higher than standard already? Difficult to tell!

Easy way to tell about the lift is look at the shocks. Make/colour

you might have a boost leak or a blockage. Check over thr pipes and turbo n filter.
