I have a 2003 TD5 Defender 90, owned from early 2004. I also run a 1958 MGA which I have owned from 1981 and do all my own maintenance on it.
I am quite happy in dealing with things mechanical but not quite so with things electrical - you can't see it!

Which brings me to my question. About three weeks ago the front wipers stopped self parking, then the intermittent wipe option stopped. Last Sunday the front wipers stopped altogether. The washer also has stopped working. The15 amp fuse had blown. As a test I put in a new fuse and pressed the washer switch - that blew as did another when the wiper switch moved to first option. I have removed the wash/wiper switch, it seems ok, no obvious faults. Where do I try next please?

Thanks, A lot to try. I'd better get in a supply of 15 amp fuses just in case!. I have noticed rust stains on the passenger side wiper shaft where it comes through the bulkhead. I'll start there making sure every if free moving.

Sounds like a short circuit possibly in the wiring from the wiper switch.

Could also be his wiper motors dead.

The sag continues. Spent a jolly day dismantling the fascia. I have now removed the wiper motor with the rack to the bench. It works freely with a small 12v test battery.The rack is a bit dirty and needed a bit of a tug to get it out. When the wiring was disconnected from the motor (still in the car then) I tried all the functions on the wiper switch and the fuse did not blow. Next session will be checking the wiring from the wiper switch as Col suggests. Thanks for the suggestions.

Sorted at last! The problem was a combination of the wiper switch itself and the 'park' switch on the wiper motor.(The little plunger spring had failed)
Thanks for all the helpful suggestions. In return can I offer my solution to keeping track of all the different screws & bolts when dismantling the fascia.
I bought a supply of small clear self sealing plastic bags and labelled the contents up using a strip of masking tape as in "Instrument panel, bottom screws".
