Hi All,
New member here, having owned the same Land Rover (1977 Series 3 109) for the past 34 years it's now undergoing it's second rebuild. Chassis replaced in the first rebuild (over 20 years ago now) bulkhead will need replacing this time. Have questions about MOT exceptions and refurbished galvanized bulkheads which I'll no doubt post in the relevant sections.

Bodywork off. Decision made to replace bulkhead rather than repair (again). Replacement galvanized chassis still totally sound after over 20 years.

Welcome, a proper landy owner. Series vehicles will go on indefinitely with the correct maintenance. Good luck with your project.

Hi and welcome!

Good decision to go with a galvanised bulkhead. Let us know how you get on. Don’t forget some more pics!

Bulkhead off and almost fully stripped.

Funny how things go, it took 3 hours to get the steering wheel off, I was expecting 3 mins. Snapped several of the webbings in the process, done it in the past no problem.

However front drums came off very easy, since they have not been off for at least 20 years I was expecting a struggle. I've got hub seals and new cam adjusters on the way. As a matter of course I'll replace all the hydraulics. I may take the opportunity to convert to duel circuit I realize that it won't improve the braking as such but a bit of piece of mind.
