If the turbo was glowing red hot,as you said,and the engine just stopped,it would seem to me,that it has suffered internal damage,you have been given some great advice by a landy guru,jamesmartin,take it mate.,or get a compression test done,to see if the pistons/rings or valves are still doing their job.
im grateful for the advice and ive been looking for another engine but also considering just doing a full rebuild myself at least i know that all area's are covered on the internals its just having the time to do it around work and this is also my daily driver which is a bit of a pain but i dont wanna part with her lol
