Hi, I need to upgrade the headlight bulbs on my 2013 l405 AB as they aren't good. I've looked at dozens....heads twisted. Do I go for led or laser or stay with hid ? I need them to be massively brighter but nothing that messes with the Can. Brighter the better. Any help appreciated.

If you need anything brighter than HID, you need to get your eyes tested and maybe you should not be driving at night.

+1 on an eye test and a discussion with your optician
Appreciate your concern, FYI I'm disabled after a stroke and I lost sight in 1 eye aswell, I wear glasses and have a test every 3 years for my licence so I'm doing my best. I find your comment disrespectful and feel your have discriminated against me. I will be reporting you. Take a good look at yourself. Listen and DONT judge. I asked a question that's all.

with respect, I'm not judging you or anyone. As I said, you might just need new bulbs, if they are very old then they will be useless and anyone would struggle to see at night.
if you have good lighting already, then adding more light could well be a problem for other road users. Thats a valid concern, not discrimination of any kind. I've not said you shouldn't drive. I have suggested you have a discussion with your optician, if you're having difficulties then there may be options out there to help you.
you asked a question. I gave an answer.

You obviously don't give a feck about the oncoming drivers you are going to blind.

The constructio
These may be suitable
The construction and use regs used to limit headlight output by wattage. With HID and now LED, the light output has gone through the roof as the wattage limit is no longer relevant. There are thousands of complaints about these lights.

Yes but according to a quick google search it just says as long as it doesn't dazzle other drivers. I suspect lots of the ones that dazzle are poorly designed cheap imports.

I've fitted these to both of mine, Amazon product it's worth noting that correctly assembled LED replacement lamps will not change the beam pattern, spread or focal length. Just to be sure, I checked both of mine on the MoT standard headlight alignment checker - before & after, other than a slightly different colour temperature (HiD colour temperature drops off with age) and a higher output, there was no material change in the beam pattern or 'spill'.

I would also add, that as with any vehicle with EAS, if you have the suspension height recalibrated, then the headlight static beam position should also be checked.

Whilst the 'usual suspects' are looking for the ladder to get upon their 'high horse', it's worth pointing out that the specifications of 70W input, 8600 Lumens output, is per pair, because, when do you intentionally use just one headlamp on a car? so falls within the admittedly archaic C&U limits.
