oi ya numpty I'll have you know I've done nigh on 10k in a F2 over the last xx months - and while i admit it's a darn site better than it's predecessor it's still nowhere near as good as it could have been, it's a semi decent car and that's all is will ever be

whereas my 20 year old 110 is one of the best on/off road vehicles ever made :)

What a way to come out a the closet.....does the missus know???:eek::eek:

i have free use of one, and a fuel card - i feel no shame for admitting it

i'm actually quite enjoying running it into the ground, in the same way that i used to enjoy pulling legs off spiders - it's only got 12k on the clock and it's dying - slowly but very shirly it's dying

oh a tip for anyone thinking of buying one, don't use it transport pigs across town with as it's almost impossible to remove pig poo from that stupid fluffy stuff in the boot (i believe it's called carpet?)

The problem with you lot is that you don't understand the freelander at all, you keep comparing it to other landys and saying "my old 110" and similar stuff. It is not a fecking off-roader, it is not pretending to be one, it is a large 4x4 family car. There is a huge market for large 4x4 family cars and landrover is exploiting it. If I worked on a farm or lived in outer mongolia I would not buy a Freelander, but I live in a modern developed urban area with tarmac roads, ( like most of us ). The freelander is not purchased to be a weekend play toy it is purchased for everyday comfy family transport and for that the freelander2 is as good as it could be.

i'm not disagreeing with you, as i said it's a semi decent car - i do wonder why you need a 4x4 to run the kids to school and go to Tesco in

ok fair point we do get a quarter inch a snow a year

Just remember that the "soft-roader" market generates more sales for Landrover than its off-roaders. So the hateful freelander is supporting the existance of your beloved defenders.

i hate to **** on your party - sales are meaningless, profit is king

go look at the various model margins, NOT the sales figures

it's a known fact that Land Rover peaked with the 88" and 109"....everything since has been a downward trend

Erm ......how....my 110 was built in 1988.....hows that helping me???
Me me me me me me me me me, how selfish.
It is keeping the model current, if you or a new purchaser wanted a new one for example.
also,
Its going to keep the production of genuine parts in the system.

I think you'll find its the longevity of the older models that will keep the part being made, I dont think much of the new ford transit will fit into the older models.

Once a car is sold it will generate further revenue from servicing and replacement parts.

The freelander2 turns a profit and because so many are sold it will turn a huge profit.
Just like when the freelander1 saved landrovers ass from collapsing last time.

yep i agree, and that nice drug taking tennis player getting kicked off strictly come prancing hasn't made things any better either

Yep that old headgasket problem never turned round and bit them in the ass did it...cant buy publicity like that. How to ruin a reputation in one easy lesson.

did you learn your macro economics by watching an episode of Blue Peter ?

fortuantly most of the people currently considering a F2 have forgotten what a pile of poo the F1 generally was - plus I suspect those who actually do buy a F2 wont have driven any of the slitty atternatives

but as i said before it's a semi decent car

Despite the hgf of the k-series the freelander1 became the worlds best selling 4x4 and saved landrovers ass.
The freelander2 TD4 shouldn't have the same problems (fingers crossed) , so watch this space.

Even if you don't like the FL2 you should still support it because its revenue supports the brand you love so dearly.
