Fecker didn't start this morning...turned it over until the battery went low. Got me thinking about a few things.
1. How long do glowplugs last?- I changed them 3 years ago with genuine bosch ones...
2. I bought a syncmate about 8-9 months ago, i did read that this resync may need to be done sometime later( About 9 months time approx as it will forget code again)...Maybe thats why it didn't start??

Anyway to day I thought- feck it. I went and got some new glowplugs- not sure how to test once they are out of the car?
Leak off pipes are all dry so no leaks.
Only other thing that got me thinking was the glowplug relay- what are the symptoms of a faultly one? or how do i test it?
Battery will be charged overnight will hook it back up tomorrow and stick in the sync mate, hopefully that may fix it. if not then 5 litres of diesel and a plastic tub and im gonna do a late spring clean- The manifold is coming off anyway so i can install new glowplugs. Soak all the palstic pipes in diesel or white spirit- not sure which is better at dissolving the black gunk?
lastly an oil change.

what do you think?

Check the in tank pump is working. The glowplug relay can be checked by putting a volt meter between the top of the glowplugs and earth, then with the glowplug light on you should have a good 12 volts.

new intank pump about 4-5 months ago- i cut a neat hole through the floor....!

I am hoping it is the resync thats the problem, I have had a few becm memory issues recently-i have had a interior light problem etc, remote locking not working in certain locations and having to lock using the key in the door- but not having to use the EKA code it does sync with the key in the ignition.

btw which colour wire do i need to disconnect on the rf reciever?

Just trying to eliminate possible causes...

Testing glow plugs is a doddle. Connect 12 volts to terminal. Place up your bottom. Touch body of plug with negative lead. If you don't feel any pain the plug is duff if you do it will sort your piles out.:D:D:D

Do a continuity test on them no circuit no workie.

Blue wire it is then..

BTW
Which is the best cleaning agent for the intake manifold? I was going to use white spirit, then I remembered someone on here said to use diesel??
Diesel is cheaper-
what about good old fairy and some boiling water?

Single blue wire on the RF receiver.

Diesel, Acetone, or I have used Nitromors Original paint stripper, it will shift anything, although I would not use it or Acetone on a plastic manifold!

Petrol finest parts cleaning fluid known to man. Although it's origonal use was as a head lice cure. Things have come on a little since then. Petrol or Paraffin mixed with a little Gunk is water washable after cleaning.

The continuity test.... Plug is off the car so one lead on the thread and the other on the body of the plug?
No buzz means it's fecked?
What are the chances that more than 4 are fecked?

My guess would be three. Yes no buzz, buggered.

Did you not get instructions with it or at least download them? No idea what the red light means but red usually means no go on other kit:eek:

I can lock and unlock with the key fob, which means the security is working?

Also why does the car alrm sound when i disconnect the battery? how do i turn it off without disconnecting the sounder? what do i do with the key fob? i tried pressing the buttons but it kept sounding...???

no weird messages on the dash apart from the usual window stuff and eas crap.

what else can i do, really ****ed about this now- it always happens on the days you need to get s##t done.

is the red light flashing? how meny times did it flash. plug it back in and count the flashers get back to me i tell you what the problem is..

dunno about 30 seconds. when i tried it for the first time ever - 8-9 months ago it went from blue to green flashes then solid green and it just worked. today its a diffrent story.

I did read a post today that bbs guy sent out a new updated one for someone else who had a similar problem. Where is BBS GUY??? I have PM'd him but no reply as yet!

I got a reply from BBS Guy, basically saying that I should just disconnect the battery and reconnect it..... then give the syncmate another go. will try this and update.
I dont mind trying this it jsust the fecking alarm that keeps going off- i looked for the souder wire but could not find it. I have also tried to press the fob to lock and unlock- but it keeps sounding for what seems like ages- might have to bung some rags in the sounder to muffle it abit.

Would think the sounder wire is connected to the sounder somewhere. Side cutters are good.:D:D:D
