Freelander 1 New Freelander owner.....

Morning,

I have just been gifted an 04 Freelander TD4 SE, it has had the viscous coupling, diff, starter motor and belts all done. The previous owner has bought a new motor and asked if I would like this one. Its 5 years younger and has only done 100k so half what my P38 has done, so yeah, I have taken it.

I;ve been trawling the site and found a few tips, but I am also looking for any advice...

Its needing a good clean up and a few things done, I need to fix the rear window actuator, which has gone south, thats my first job this week.

It also needs tyres, I will need it to be able to cope with a few off road tasks round the local farms etc, so what type of tyres would you recommend? Its currently got 205/65/16 on it, can I uprate these to some semi knobbly jobs without raising the motor? If so, what type do you all use?

I have banked a BMW EGR valve blanking kit, seen a lot of varying notes on this, but it seems like a sensible thing to do....agree or not?

And also I was thinking of sticking a Pipercross air filter kit on it, to improve the air flow....good idea?

Any other advice greatfully accepted.....

Does anyone want to buy a P38???

The tyres should be 215/65 R16 , unless someone wishes to correct me.
I run a pipercross green sponge air filter, works fine, just remember to clean it.
Swap the crank case breather as it always gets overlooked.
EGR blanking opinions are split. Mines blanked others disagree.
P38, err, no:rolleyes: I spend enough time on the Hippo.

If you would like to improve flow... you need to remove that silly plastic pipes on top of the engine ;)
And don't use oil type air filters - those will kill you'r MAF. only dry ones.
