Hmm, might need some new ones sooner rather than later.
I would like to get some ready glazed ones - lazyness plus some of my glass is a little scratched. I've seen the ones on John Craddocks (about £60 inc vat) and also seen the fancy Rocky Mountain ones which should be rust free but costly at £300 per pair.

Two questions really; any recommendations as to the best place to buy 'normal' steel / Ali door tops and how long should they last (assuming I paint before fitting). Anyone had any good or bad experiences of these replacements?

Fitting looks a piece of cake - two studs / bolts straight into door bottom, right?

yep simple as that but take the glass out of the old ones before removeing them as i found finding someone with the front drivers quaterlight (fixed bit of door glass) is nigh on impossible

after some twot bricked me window i took the top part of the door off and found the bolts had rusted into the door frame and needed a shock with a hammer to free them up enough to move

when i did this the bolt appeared in the bottom track so if the glass was complete the bolt could have shattered the window had someone not beat me to it ;);)

seen a few ready glazed units and all looked as if they were thrown together by a blind man.....

either get a good set of ex military or go the rocky mountain route  or get some new glass a glazing kit and the best door tops you can find and have a go yourself...:D

auto glass people will cut glass to size for you if it is non existant (have got spares if needed)

have you got spare glass yer could sell :eek::eek: ???

have two spare sets, could part with some for a few beer tokens, try an auto glass bod first tho may be cheaper than finding your way down south, would not trust post/courier with 30 year old glass...;)

Helpful advice guys. Not sure I can stretch to the costly Rocky Mountain ones as i'm already shelling out for galvanised bulkhead and front panel this month. Then again, I know it makes sense to find the extra as they shouldn't rot.

Then again, I could get the cheap glazed ones to put me on a couple of years or so. Dunno, will think lol!

Getting expensive this Landy game - only bought one for a cheap Sunday driver with a view to just keeping it on the road in good order and it's turning into a refurb project!

I have the RM ones and they are the dogs doo dahs. With standard ones you will have them rusting within a couple of years.
