Hello to all my fellow LR owners! I've just bought a 2001 p38a 4.6 Vogue in black. I live on Skye and drove it back to my house from Portree this pm. I had a new one many moons ago and this felt very similar to those recollections. Sitting in my kitchen re acquainting my self with the manual and looking at the three keys that came with the vehicle. So thought ah I'll tune the radio and try one of the newer but rather battered looking keys. Popped it into the ignition, up came battery low in key sign..ahah I thought..I won't try that one then. So put the one the ex owner was using in..it also said battery low..oops I thought not a great sign.

I didn't try starting it. Exited the vehicle, locked it. Waited a moment and unlocked it with the remote, all seemed good until I put the key in and tried to start it, all lights working no low battery sign this time but not a thing else happens, no engaging of the starter..in fact a complete ZERO. So I've left it an hour the manual saying 2001my leave for 30mins..just tried after and hour and the same thing, the key that was being used says low battery and no starting. Can't believe it my shiny newish set of wheels and I can't even start it to show my wife what a lovely v8 sounds like with a stainless still exhaust..

Any suggestions for getting it started would be most welcome!? And there i was going to say hi and hope to see some others in this part of the world and not to have a sob story..hmmm the idea was a good one!!

Welcome, we share your pain best option is to resync your key follow the procedure in your owners manual baring that fit new batteries resynce if that's fails its eka time hope you got the codes from the previous owner.

Hi @H&I P38

Unfortunately I do not know enough about the P38, never owned one , so have never investigated what problems it has.

I do not know if the P38 even has an EKA code, ( emergency Key Access), if it does , may be worth trying.

I would suggest you copy and paste your intro into the Range rover section. As those guys are the kiddies for the RR line .

Good luck.

Cheers
