Howdy G.R, This is what mine is like, this isn't actually mine but i wonder if it would fit in the other way as it is a pain getting to the terminals.

I managed to remember to take the pic. Terminals like yours are to the rear ,little jump start connection to the front. It was the post by banks about not being able to move cables due to plastic box that confused me, as it's just a cable leading to the jump start connection and SHOULD be able to be manhandled out of the way.

Thanks, Yep same as mine, including the cover to the terminals being missing, I would imagine they brake off after being moved a couple of times

Andy, I was having a look and I 'think' that it could be turned, to put terminals to front. The live wouldn't be an issue , as it should still reach the connector, but would probably involve putting a slightly longer earth on. Especially as I found on my many jump starts that it's the earth that's a pig to get to. Only worry would be the two wires crossing to get live to connector. You could always try it and tell me how you get on :D;):D

Bugger that , I am going to leave it until I am really bored, I use the big nut behind the black plastic box for the positive and the large nut sticking up on the suspension turret as the negars cheggers to jump mine :)

What happened to your sense of adventure. Has the beast ( car not Alan) finally beat it out of you ;):)

It ws the head gasket scare I think, it's a bit like a mild heart attack and then staying off the fags and booze for a while :)

Hi All,
My Yuasa Silver HSB019 has just packed up after 18 months. I can’t find receipt either so 5 year warranty worthless.
Does anyone have any actual model numbers for good batteries? Mine is 2003 L322 V8, thanks

I use Battery Megastore for good prices and I'm very happy with Hankook batteries.
The Alphaline (now discontinued) I bought from them 7 years ago is still going strong.

Shouldn't matter about receipt. Whoever you bought it from should have the sale on record. If you have no joy, the photo of mine (above) has all details showing clearly, if it helps.

Thank you. I can’t even remember where I bought it from though at the moment. Getting old I think! Might have been Halfords.

Hi Datatek, is that on a petrol V8?
Would have thought diesel actually a bit harder on batteries. Thanks for the info

I bought a Bosch S5 020 from ECP just under 5 yrs ago for £113 (bargain!!!!). Failed recently....took it back with receipt and they exchanged without question, can't recommend them enough. Works perfectly in my TD6 ( will be fine in the V8)

Ridiculously expensive on their website, make sure you get a bl00dy good discount code though for the eye watering RRP.

Hmmmm do we have a battery guru on site? Looking deeper, lots of brands seem to call their batteries 020 but several have lower CCA than the S5 015. Yet the S5 015 seems to be 'type' 020 .

Last time I looked which was some time ago, there were only 3 or 4 battery manufacturing plants in the EU with production coming out under different brand names.
The Brand new VARTA that came with the P38 I saved from the scrappers will not start the car once it the weather cold despite being the recommended battery, same happened when I bought a new VARTA for the Transit. The Transit now has Hankook and starts winter or summer, the P38 will start as long as I leave a charger connected and no, there is no battery drain problem.
Brands these days seem to be meaningless.
