Disco 4 (LR4) Need some quick advice: is this a good buy?

Like a moth drawn to a flame I am looking to get into the Disco 4 game again. I found this car. A beautiful XXV edition. (Its for sale on a swedish website (Im Swedish myself) so Ill transalte the numbers into the imperial system for you.)

4 3.0 SDV6, Special Edition XXV
Mileage is 124 274 miles BUT engine was replaced in 2020 and only has 31 068 miles since then.

It has normal scratch, bumps, wear and tear from a car thats been frequently used for eight years. Nothing to write home about.

Its been inspected and has no current problem with parking break, air suspension and other similar deal breakers that are problematic for a Disco 4.

If you were shopping for a Disco 4. What would you be prepared to to pay for this car?

OK so why was the engine replaced, and with what a new genuine replacement or one from a scaped car plus if it was how many miles did the new engin have on it, and finaly who did the work!!!

To buy a D4 XXV in the UK would be nearly twice as much as that.
What is the legislation like in your county regarding emissions? in the UK if you want/need a D4 you buy a late 2015 onwards as they are Euro6.

It seems the engine was replaced by a Land Rover certified place.

I got my hands on the service record. It's obvious the previous user neglected and didn't change oil and oil filters. An o-ring seal had been fitted incorrectly, all oil had drained and the engine had been run without oil. So the engine replacement was pretty much a given.

I will share the records of everything done when the engine was replaced. Maybe you can make some sense of it?

What's the verdict? YAAY! or NAAY! ?

Well, if he took this much care of his expensive vehicle , then what else did he skimp on ?? You can't run a champagne car on lemonade money ... or the engine blows up ... Yep, just like this one!!

How much warranty would come with the car ?

What are the terms of said warranty ?

Do you have your own proper diagnostics ?

Can you use them ?

Are your pockets deep enough to be able to afford to pay someone appropriately experienced to do any repairs ?

We sometimes see horror stories of modern vehicles with questionable history, and sometimes the new owner gets their fingers burnt - sometimes they don't ..

I'm sorry if I come across as too cautious, but, if you know the previous owner skimped on servicing and maintenance, then the vehicle has to be cheap to justify the risk, AND you have to be able to do the bulk of repairs yourself IMHO

Its a used car so there is not official warranty. But in Sweden we are protected by the law against any unknown faults discovered within 6 months. There is also a law that says that for the first two weeks I can drive the car and return it no questions asked.

With all that done to the engine one would hope the engine if looked after would not be a problem but as Disco1 BFG said, are you pockets deep enough to pay for any future repairs or do you have the necessary tools and experience to do your own, I am an Military trained fitter, with 40 years old collection of tools but I still need to buy modern tools for the more modern vehicle, torx drives ball end allen keys, so let’s not talk about the electronics side, if you cant at least carry out jobs like brake replacement, bleeding, hub replacement, torque up nuts to the correct setting then forget the car
