Evoque Need some help with my Range Rover Evoque 2016 Diesel

I know I'm getting old , but I do feel a sadness for some of the rites of passage that have been lost. Buying a runaround, within your means, no debt, and then learning to work on it, was one of those rites. Similar to your first fixer-upper home ( have to admit I was given my first property at 18yr old, but I still had to do fixing up).
Now people just want, and want it now. Instead of laughing, in years to come, about their adventures fixing their cars. Or the time the ceiling fell in , as you lay in bed, in your first property ( yes , it did :) ) The tales will be of what they didn't do , because they were scrimping to pay off debt*, or hiding from the bailiffs. It's sad.

I agree, the skills and experiences you gain on your first car and house stay with you for life. It is why I gave my son an interest free loan to buy his Defender, bought him a chest full of decent tools for his 21st and have spent some quality time with him fixing and modifying his motor. It is also why I think we should be encouraging a young lad who has not wasted his cash on a PCP, but has bought a car through hard work and savings and now wants to work on it.
 
Yep nissan tied in with renault years ago, and under the skin there are renault logos everywhere.
Which is why the K12 aint a patch on the k10/11 models which were practically indestructible.

So true, also suitable for nights are fiestas/zafiras and of course mondeos, all have to be beaten to hell and back, and held together with baling twine.
 
It's unlikely an fairly new Evoque is going to 'need' a light bar for practical purposes, so this is just for looks and occasional light use (see what i did there?)! Any light bar will do, pretty much so long as it is connected to its own 12v source and not tied into any existing circuits as it will probably overload and/or throw a fault code.
Has anyone ever lifted one yet? I'm guessing it won't take much for all the ECUs to hate whatever you do, more body roll will be introduced etc which the suspension will try to fight against

I've spoken to a guy who does a lot too freelanders, and he said its just about finding a good balance, plus im not looking for anything excessive in terms of lift

* The 21yr old Lance-jack as an example again, who was never to be seen on nights out, only seen in the Mess for official functions, never went on fun outings with rest of unit. All to pay for the RRS and the extortionate insurance that came with it. :(

Admittedly it is soon, but if you have the means and the money why not?

and i should say my first car was not exactly anything too extra, but i will always miss that little UP!
 
I have no desire to enter into a heated discussion with you. As an owner of one of the more 'modern LR's' I can assure you that they are certainly not designed to be tinkered with at home! There are certain in-built 'things' that ensure the future of the LR dealership! For sure, the basic items can be done but ….. .
Further aggressive 'drivel' from you will not be answered so don't waste your time.:D

if I may give u a heads up, they are electronically heavy so u can be restricted with some mods

With bigger tyres is watching the depth of ur sidewalls , as the smaller they get the more easily they will get damaged from potholes and dent the rims, also have to watch the clearance , if u mainly wish to stay on tarmac and have raised it with longer springs at motorway speeds it can become unstable, or round corners , u have a very complicated cornering system that uses G and yaw sensors so if it sees to much roll it will throw an error up

maybe just put all terrain tyres on , don’t know what the current size tyres are

along with that ur insurance might not like the mods,ref the suspension, as with any mods they should be advised so theres no surprises

don’t get me wrong it’s ur vehicle but would just hate to see u do something that may cause it to become unstable , or u loose control ,

many of us have seen mods being done and alas know the consequences and were just trying to guide u to prevent things like that happening ,

please stick around as ur find it’s a great place and all the advice isn’t being disrespectful to u, just trying to help that’s all

ref light bar, , know the pics are discovery sport but just a general idea , also have a look what ur current headlights are

indeed and nothing wrong with that , just trying to prevent the dashboard to light up like a xmas tree , lol

to be honest I’m not sure , plus seen light bars in front grills etc
