Hello,

Whilst driving around and seeing other folks landys I see a few that have this wierd rim around their tyres, anyone can tell me what they are and just some general information I could find on them would be much appreciated. And their own opinion on them!

I may be wrong, but I believe they are to stop the bead from popping off the wheel when you drop the tyre pressure really low... Forgotten the name of them though...
 
they are beadlocks -

they stop the tyre coming off when running low pressure off-road -

they are of dubious legality on road as you are not supposed to modify wheels - it invalidates the standards that they are are made to

Used to run these on my sj , priceless once you've pushed the limit on fully inflated tyres :D
