Hi i need info on tweaks for the 2.5 diesel to get a bit more torque have been looking at LPG, magic box or a chip any help would be good thanks
The chips and magic boxes work well, got a box on mine and it made a big difference especially towing the tin tent, but mine is a manual with the auto box it puts on the limits that the box can handle.
An autobox is much stronger than a manual box. Almost no really powerful cars have manual box.
Yes it will give you enough extra torque, mine went from slowing down on hill with caravan to accelerate up them well pleased I just don't have to work it so hard.Just looking a little bit more torque to stop the box getting a workout every day driving over the Brecon Beacons
I think you'll find this isn't the case on the Rangie. The manual gearbox is called R380 for a reason. For the 4.6 they had o go find a stronger gearbox (the HP24) as the HP22 couldn't handle it.
I wouldn't touch a Powerbox myself. You can get a replacement chip though for the ECU although it has to be desoldered so it needs someone who knows what they are doing.
It has been noted a good number of times, the hp22 will lunch itself if you tweak the M51 to far.
In general auto boxes are more resiliant than manuals.....but you still have to take into account the designed limits of the hp22 and if you tweak the engine to much it will eventualy eat itself.
Never had a Range Rover, and don't want one, but generally auto is much stronger, and also gives an easier life to engines and drive train components.
All the big American muscle cars that produce 800 horse have auto, a clutch and manual box doesn't like that kind of power.
