Hi
I have just purchased a Freelander 2 7 days ago and already had a brake failure (as well as many other issues). I replaced the front drivers side flexihose which had rubbed against the tire and burst but broke the brass/metal pipe that this hose connects to as the fitting as stuck and the pipe twisted then broke. I have been searching for hours now looking to the metal brake line but having zero luck and hopeing someone could point me in the right direction. Thank you in advance for any advice,

+1^ as this was sold to you in an unroadworthy condition. Even if sold by a private person, they still have a responsibility to describe it correctly and not let you think you could drive away safely in it.
No vehicle that is properly built and maintained should ever have a flexi brake hose contacting a moving object, like a wheel or tyre. MOT failure I think.
But to fix it get a pipe specialist to make you up a short length of steel pipe and connect it to the existing pipe. Easy job if you/they have the tool to make the flared ends, then with a nipple on the end that takes a nut, or whatever it needs, to match the original. You don't need to replace the whole metal pipe unless it is rusty or summat. But this may be cheaper in the long run. You just have to price up both options.
As for the other things wrong with it, you do have rights as a consumer. Spend you time looking into that and make sure you keep all receipts if the works is done!

Thank you, I got the car from JB Car Sales in Bolton and have already sent him materials cost which he has agreed to pay and that I would carry out the works myself, being an ex plumber this would have been easy appart from the pipe being stuck in the brass fitting. The M.O.T is only a week old as well, he did pay for rear high level brake light (was leaking), rear door switch (broken), wind screen wipers (old worn), front set lights (2 had blown), brake hose, fluid and cleaner. I did beg the question if the M.O.T was real but have checked on the gov web site and its there. I am starting to feel an unlucky owner.

I would say if the mot was clean ie no advisories at all, then its bent.
Maybe give the dvsa? a ring and ask them what the score is as regards a complaint, or ring the garage back and say you think the mot is hooky and are going to complain, and see what his response is.
Many things you can turn a blind eye to, but steering and brakes arent one of them.

As @lynall says, chafing on a brake hose should be a fail or at least an advisory.
https://www.gov.uk/guidance/mot-ins...t-commercial-vehicles/1-brakes#section-1-1-12
Defect Category
(a) Brake hose damaged and likely to fail Dangerous
(b) Flexible brake hose:

(i) slightly damaged, chafed or twisted Minor
(ii) excessively damaged, deteriorated, chafed, twisted or stretched Major

As this is a quote from the above link and as it failed after 27 days, the MOT is dodgy and I think you could appeal it. Certainly I'd get another one done at a place you trust. You were lucky not to come to harm when it went.
If the car was sold with a dodgy MOT then that is false description so the sale would become invalid.
Target-rich environment for you really!
Personally I'd be going mad with them and have VOSA, Trading Standards and a small claims action going.

Don't be scared of this if you haven't done it before.

Apart from your financial and safety point of view, there is also the fact that this person may be putting other people's lives in danger so it is a public safety issue.:mad::mad::mad::mad:
