Hi folks yet again another problem with my Freelander - just seems to be one thing after another - welcome to the worls of Freelanders i guess.

When I press the button to lower the nearside rear window the motor drives and I can hear a crunching noise but no window movement (luckily its staying up)

When i removed the door card the cable has came off the bottom of the motor and seems to have broken the pulley?

Can anyone advise on how i can repair this?

I have looked in the Rave manual but cannot find anywhere where it shows to replace the wire!

Thanks

Neil

there's a kit you can buy off ebay, which comes with clear instructions, varying degrees of success reported on this forum.

or you can repair it using a bicycle brake cable. if you do a search for window regulator, you'll find all the details.

good luck.

If it makes you feel any better, i had to replace all of mine within Three months of ownership. But sure who cares, its still a great runaround in the snow:)

that's not the kit I had in mind, but that would do the job admirably, the kit I had seen in the past was just a cable, and a lug that you resin glued to the end.

the kit you have found seems much better.

when you re-assemble, make sure you lubricate (use a grease rather than an oil) all moving parts of the assembly, and where the cable goes round the pulleys, and in and out of the sheathing.

good luck

Ive tried the cable kit that means glueing the nipple in place on 2 occasions. Both have failed within days. Th efirst I put down as being my fault, didnt clean the cable, let the adhesive set long enough or whatever, so I tried again with the same result.

The upshot is I wouldnt waste my time or money on the e-bay kit. Ive had more success (intended initially as a temporary measure) with a cycle brake cable (stainless steel cable) and a solderless nipple. Both lying around in me garage and a fraction of the cost of the flea bay kit.
