Hi all. I have Freelander 2, MY 2007 and navigation cannot remember my settings of destination country, map settings, voice guidance turned off etc. However, stored locations (my favourite destinations) are persisted. These settings are reset almost every time the engine is turned off, but not always. Sometimes they are reset even during short refueling stop at petrol station, sometimes they "survive" several days and everything seems to be working as I expected.

Do you have idea what the problem could be?

Thanks.

You could try a hard reset, but you'll need to reconfigure the windows and sunroof after the battery is reconnected.

Do you mean just unplug car battery for couple of minutes? Or is there any "secret switch"? I did that (and had to reconfigure windows). Nothing changes. Also I tried to remove DVD and insert it back. Sometimes these steps seem to be solution, but after couple of engine starts settings disappear. I can't figure out if this is some kind of hardware problem (short circuit or something similar) or software problem (I'm using the latest DVD from satnavstore.com).

A hard reset is disconnect the battery, and short the leads together for a couple of minutes.
This will clear down any energy stored in capacitors.
However it does sound like it may well have some form of hardware fault in the nav DVD unit.

Thank you for your advise. I did that couple hours ago and it seems to be fine now. We will see in next days. So this not some kind of common (well-known) fault?

Not really, although the Freelander 2 does suffer lots of electronic issues, mostly caused by old and failing batteries.
Also not letting the system check to complete before starting the engine also causes issues.
