Long story short i have just replaced my luna dual charge system , ended up been just a faulty controller  .
Anyway the solenoid links the batts after just 2 mins , (manual says 5) . i contacted the seller and they that its ok , guess they would ! . i will contact luna USA direct , But what do you think , is it ok @ 2 mins or should i be sending it back , problem is its a nightmare to get it out of the battery box its that tight .

Volt meter to the ready!

The national lunar controller is the same as the T-Max split charge system and I had one for years until it packed up, had a lot of abuse over the years it was fitted I must admit.

The main theory behind the controllers is that they are voltage sensing and it is the increased and surplus voltage from the alternator, once the main starter battery has been returned to full power, that is supposed to be then diverted to the aux battery.

If you want to be sure that your controller is safe to continue with then get your volt meter, and have it on the main battery and monitor the charge current from the alternator to the main starter battery and when the controller connects the batteries, so long as the alternator is reaching peak voltage before the controller switches over then it's fine.

Hi dieseldog69 , yes its doing all that fine . Not sure about the T-max (very nearly got one) , But the luna is on a timer (mine 2 mins ONLY Not the 5 the leaflet says ) before it links the batteries , so after starting up the main batt gets all the charge after the 2 mins , they both get it . Until voltage drop etc then it disconnects them to protect the main battery .

So I'm not sure , It may do as you say once it's done the 2 min timer , To charge and top back up main batt . It's this 2 mins before solenoid chunks and connects them both .
I suppose the batt is getting charged after the link , it just gets a head start on the aux .

Do you think 2 mins is long enough head start .

The old one may of been 1 min or 10 mins I never timed it , its only because I did and it says in the leaflet Quote when the vehicle is started the voltage applied to the main batt rises as a result of alt charging . If applied voltage rises above 13.1 the intelligent solenoid activates a 5 MIN TIMER , during the timer phase green light timer active . Once timer expires solenoid wil connect aux batt and stay connected until main batt drops below 12.7 volt .

Is that roughly same as T-Max
