Hi guys.. got the P38 dropped off at the house... Still getting gearbox fault, no drive but reverse all ok
That and the "repaired" key seems more like a replacement to me so need that programmed in.

Wondering if anyone near the Cumbernauld area has nanocom or similar which could handle this?
I will cross your palm with silver and should u need diagnostic for anything else please get in touch as I have loads of kit...just not much cop for a P38!

To be clear that's a key program and auto gearbox diagnostic on a P38 4.6 Thor HSE 1999

Firstly Welcome:).

If the key has the old guts in then a simple sync in the door or ignition should work.

Gearbox, dont think diagnostics will help. A change of fluid may help the HP24 is pretty strong but still needs looking after. do a search, think reverse but no drive is not unheard of if I remember.

Good luck:).

Yeah it's got fresh fluid, still no drive, no sound like it's selecting a gear so its down to shaft sensors or the a clutch i reckon. Diag should advise on if there's a sensor fault, it gets a"gearbox fault" message on dash so theyll be something stored.

Sync also been tried, fairly confident guts are different. Rf receiver replacement done aswell no luck

When you say fresh fluid has it been refilled as per Rave

There is no programming for a P38 FOB.
Gearbox should have been filled when cold with the engine idling and after passing through all gears.
To be clear... Filled when cold with engine idling and all gears through after filling... I believe that was what was

Also the fobs can be synced with nanocom? Rf receiver picks up code from fob to code? Am I wrong here?

If the fob code don’t match what’s in the BECM, it’s nothing but a plastic box with a key. Anybody reconditioning a p38 fob will know that.

Follow the sync procedure. Yes you may need the rf receiver plugged back in to do it.

Been tested with several 90ah+ batteries over the last year, all known good. There is a power drain but it appears small. Due to detect that shortly.
There is always a power drain on the P38. When the BECM goes to sleep it should be between 30 & 50 milliamps.
There is no such thing as a known good battery when it comes to the P38, what matters is the voltage at rest which should be a minimum of 12.6 volts.

As above. You may also need to clear the RF memory in the BECM.

Rf receiver is plugged in both old and 2nd hand unit tested.. no luck... Sync procedure on this model is just to unlock with ignition on.. it's a Thor model. Unlock not being picked up...

I am aware that swapping a key fob guts will no longer work with becm. I did not personally refurb the key

Yeah 12.8 resting 14.3/4 running.. not been below 12.6 on latest battery unless left for a few days
