Hi Gents/wammers.i have done some battery tests and this has been the outcome.
1 engine off all ancillaries on volts across batt is 11.7 v and dropping.
2 engine at idle no ans on 13.8 v across batt.
3 engine at 2000 rpm ancillaries on 13.3v across battery
4 engine at 2000 rpm ancillaries off 13.3v across battery
more testing to come.
Any thoughts appreciated.
Looked at cps wiring tried moving it around no change while engine running so felt brave enough to drive the bugger 10 mins later back in the drive after running great popped the bonnet having a look at the cps wiring again no change in engine rpm then boom( nearly pooped my pants) it shot up 3000rpm I'm guessing, no rev counter noticed no 4 injector is wet need further investigating.Could the leak off pipe on no 4 cause problems with the needle sensor?

Connected Nanocom not got a bloody clue what to do but tried my best.
EDC looked at faults
Control unit internal fault
Type: invalid fault,logged,intermittent
rpm 33
water temp 71
occurrence 15

Boost pressure invalid value
type:invalid fault,major fault,logged
rpm 36
inj flow 0
occurrence 11

Engine immobiliser link fault
type too high, too low high circuit
rpm 33
water temp 210
occurance 10

road speed sensor out of expected range
type:invalid fault,logged,current
rpm 33
water temp 93
occurrence 10

fuel flow value out of range
type: invalid fault major fault log
rpm 52
water temp 110
occurrence 15

Boost pressure invalid value
type:inalid fault major fault log
rpm 32
inj flow 0
occurrence 11

Needle lift sensor invalid value
type:invalid fault major fault log
rpm 73
water temp 86
occurrence 1

Have no clue what any of this means and wont touch any other buttons on nanocom as craping it incase I bugger it up.Any help is appreciated.
thanks
chris

All faults were triggered on cranking indicating low voltage. The revving is most certainly the ECU not receiving a signal from the CPS. The engine is then running on speed signals from the number four injector.

Hi Wammers thank you for your input,I will get battery tested today as the cps was replaced at the end of last year could it be faulty?Any way of testing it?I know you said cps wiring could be faulty do you have any pointers where you would start testing looking first?
I appreciate your invaluable experience One thing no one can buy is experience.
thanks

Check pins 13 and 47 for cleanliness on connector to engine ECU in box behind battery. Disconnect battery before playing with this. https://www.nanocom-diagnostics.com/downloads/preview/p38-bosch-edc-nanocom-evolution

Hi Wammers checked pins 13 /47 looked clean and fresh.Got battery and alternator checked with local auto electricians who specialise in alternators and starters batteries etc.Battery and alternator good.Checked and cleaned all earths around engine and engine bay.felt brave enough to test drive all went fine for ten mins then boom alternator fault warning on dash then rev counter zero engine idles at around 3000rpm but rev counter tries to come back on line and the kangarooing starts. Will get more alternator Battery testing tomorrow had to work late and ran out of light.

Thanks again gents
chris

Have a look at the wiring into the connector for the CPS. I removed the connector to give me room to change my starter, this caused the wire into the connector to break due to corrosion. I think it caused similar issues to yours apart from the fast idle.

Hi gents more investigating this morning and I cant see any corrosion or damage to the wiring at the cps.Entropy what was the condition of your cps wiring? Can anyone tell me what the wiring behind the alternator is for the wiring isn't for the alternator as far as I'm aware when I unplugged it I noticed a lot of corrosion the wire colours are red and white and white.

Hi Wammers Any ideas on why the wire is corroded? Does this wire link into anything else?Any other pointers on where to look next.
thanks
chris

Don't have a clue maybe pressure washing and use of aggressive cleaners. Just clean it up and make sure it has a good contact. If all else fails Lemon juice is good but it MUST be well rinsed off. Then contact cleaner and a blow out.

Hi gents got the timing device modulation wire connector plugs cleaned up.I also found the reason why it happened some one has cut a piece from the rubber boot that fits onto the connector they must have cut it on top then turned it to the bottom{hidden}Grrrrr your right mate salt water from road salt has probably got into it.had footer with the cps sensor wiring whilst engine idiling, couldn't get the fault to repeat. So took it for a spin and it was great for 10 mins then Boom Boom Alternator fault on dash no rev counter high idle and kangarooing.Where to look next?Any help apptreciated.BTW when I cleaned the timing device modulation connector the pump started a vibrating noise never heard it before.Wammers could the cps be breaking down?
thanks
chris

I think that could be a fair assumption.
