Hi all,

I bought my Freelander a few weeks ago and am slowly getting to grips with the maintenance. While I was changing the crankcase ventilation filter tonight I noticed what appears to be a threaded hole in the front the inlet manifold that comes off the turbo.
Surely this should be blanked off as I must be loosing pressure from the turbo through it and also sucking in air when the turbo isn't in operation?

I have attached a diagram of where the hole is - too dark and wet to take a pic now!

Phil.

My TD4 has the same hole.

Thats not the turbo though. The turbos is at the back of the engine. Don't ask me what that plate is, I assumed its the rocker cover, but that doesnt seem to be correct either.

If you follow it up it's connected to the intake manifolds.
Surely the boost from the turbo ends up here?

So your's has an open hole as well or is it closed off?

Phil.

Of course, its the common rail bit. I assume a sort of plennum chamber.

I think its a blind hole, i.e. it the hole doesnt go all the way through the plate.

If there is nothing comming out of it, then I guess its not a problem.
