Heres my 1976 Series 3 88" which shall be stripped down and rebuilt when the new garage is finished.

I've got the roof rack to go on it as well.

Make sure the garage door is high enough ... ;)

Not done it myself, but my mate did it with a Defender 110 and roofrack. Had to take the garage door and frame out and roofrack off ... They was about 1" clearance, though he wouldn't drop tyre pressures for some obscure reason!

Doesn't looks bad at all!! good luck with you restoration :)
:pop2: keep the pics coming ! ;)

Thank you. When it starts I think I'll do a restoration thread;)
My granddad was an engineer of the old school where everything he does gets made of half inch steel plate so hope the stuff I find ain't going to be too bad.

One thing I never realised before was the different types of sliding back window. Some have a thick metal surround like mine and johnny curt's and others don't. Does anyone know why there's 2 different types? Also I seem to only have a one speed wiper:confused:

slow and stop and as for the two types of rear window we have the up market fit the fekker yerself ones wich are copies of the original station wagon windows and the rubberised ones are more the cheaper deffender type ones brought out in the early 80s that didnt need 50 million rivets and a gallon of mastic to fit them and get em to seal wich mine neet taking out at some point and resealing or do i just get van sides

desicions desicions

Thought I'd put a few more piccies up for you.

Next the dash

Does anyone know what the switch is for in the top left with the dial label under it (not the one in the centre)?
The rather cluttered back

The heart of the beast, the mighty 2.5 N/A diesel :)

Switch is for instrument lights. The middle position (or possibly lowest, I forget) is for the optional interior light.
On mine, the side lights have to be on before works. Don't know if that's by design or a wiring fault.

Thanks. I thought it might be something to do with that. It doesn't seem to be doing much at the moment
